Our Support

Welcome to Our Bereavement Support Group

Losing a loved one is an incredibly challenging experience, and grief can feel overwhelming. We have an understanding of the depths of your pain and the unique journey that you’re on. Our experienced and dedicated team of counsellors are here to walk alongside you, offering support, understanding, and healing. Whether you prefer one-on-one sessions or the companionship of a group, we tailor our approach to meet your needs. You are not alone—let us help you navigate this difficult path together.

If you are new to the group

First and foremost, congratulations on taking this courageous step. Acknowledging your grief and seeking help is no small feat—it reflects your strength and resilience.

As you join our community, know that you are not alone. Our team of counsellors is here to guide you. Your journey begins with a chat with a counsellor, someone who will hold space for your pain, your memories, and your heartache. They will listen intently, without judgment, allowing you to share your story at your own pace.

Once you’re ready, we’ll introduce you to the group. Here, you’ll find kindred spirits who have walked similar paths. They, too, have felt the weight of grief, and they offer a sympathetic ear, a comforting presence. Each person’s journey is unique, and we honour that truth. Whatever form your grief takes,  you belong here.

You’ve arrived at a place where healing begins, and where your story matters. Welcome to our circle of shared strength and shared hope

Beyond grief : A place of connection

The group is not all about grief

While grief is the thread that binds us, our support group extends far beyond sorrow.

We’re a haven for companionship. Whether you crave heartfelt conversations or simply want to share tea and biscuits with friends, you’re welcome here.

No pressure, no expectations. Some days, grief may weigh heavily on your heart, and we’ll be here to listen. Other days, laughter may bubble up, and we’ll celebrate those moments too. Your journey is yours to navigate, and our group will honour every twist and turn.

So come as you are—whether with tears or laughter, stories or silence. Together, we create a space where grief coexists with joy, and where friendship blooms amidst shared vulnerability. 🌷

One-on-one Counselling

During the meeting, one-on-one counselling is available to anybody who requests it.

One-on-one counselling in a bereavement support group offers distinct advantages that complement the group setting. Here are some reasons why you might seek this:

Personalised Attention: One-on-one sessions allow for tailored support. The counsellor can focus exclusively on your unique experiences, emotions, and needs. It’s an opportunity to delve deeper into your grief journey.

Privacy and Confidentiality: Some people prefer discussing sensitive topics privately. In individual counselling, you can share without fear of judgment or exposure. Confidentiality is paramount.

Complex Grief: Grief is multifaceted. If you’re dealing with complicated grief, trauma, or specific issues, individual sessions provide a safe space to explore these complexities.

Intimacy and Vulnerability: Sharing in a group is valuable, but individual sessions allow for intimacy and vulnerability. You can express feelings that might be too raw or personal for a larger audience.

Focused Exploration: In group settings, time is divided among participants. One-on-one sessions offer undivided attention to explore your grief, memories, and coping strategies.

Building Trust: Establishing a strong therapeutic alliance is crucial. Individual counselling helps build trust with your counsellor, which can enhance overall progress.

Remember, both group and individual counselling have their place. It’s about finding the balance that best supports your healing journey.

The group meeting

We meet for 2 hours each week in a quiet and peaceful place.

The seating is informal and the conversation is friendly.

A private area is available for one-on-one counselling.

As you settle into your seat, enjoy some cakes with your tea or coffee.

This confusing mix of sadness, anger, joy, and guilt is completely normal after the death of a loved one. It even has a name: Grief.
